In Partnership with Bermuda's Art Month Offering and Mazar-Fox Art Consulting:
Step into the world of the Impressionists and discover the joy of painting outdoors in this inspiring plein air workshop led by artist and educator Rachel Swinburne and art historian, Holly Mazar-Fox.
The Impressionists believed in capturing fleeting moments of light and color, painting directly from nature with a spontaneous approach. In this session, you’ll learn how to see Bermuda’s beaches through their lens — from shimmering ocean blues to the vibrant play of sunlight on our coastal scenery.
Rachel will guide participants through foundational techniques in observation, light and color, while encouraging a creative response to the environment. Whether you’re an experienced painter or picking up a brush for the first time, this workshop offers a supportive and uplifting space to connect with your creativity.
Adding a rich layer of context, Holly the art historical lead, with degrees from Yale University and the Courtauld Institute of Art, will share insights into the history of Impressionism and the evolution of pigment use. Based in Bermuda, Holly is an art consultant and cultural strategist who connects local artistry with global perspectives through her curatorial practice.
